Our June café will explore the social construction of gender. The idea of “social construction” suggests that the evolution of our shared norms, knowledge, beliefs, and practices influence our ways of seeing, being, and understanding our world. It gives us a framework to question what we have always known to be true, and to dare to consider life’s complexities, broaden our lenses, and continue to grow, learn, and evolve in a conscious way. While the notion of “social construction” does not negate biological or other realities, it does prioritize analyzing the social and environmental impacts that create our realities. We hope you will join us in a discussion of the “social construction of gender:” the meaning of the phrase, the controversies within the discourse, and the current trends. “Listen to me. Gender is a construct, society is a construct, money is a construct. But bedtime is very, 'very real. ” - ) (ifunny.co)

Register Now
