Please join the Office for Advancement for our next Community Conversations, &quot;How to Manage a Pandemic: Learning from AIDS.” The webinar will be held November 30, from 11 a.m. to noon.<br><br>The presentation commemorates World AIDS Day on December 1 and will be led by William Valenti, MD, who will provide a timeline of the AIDS pandemic and lessons learned. <br><br>Dr. Valenti is the senior vice president for strategic advancement, chief of innovation, and co-founder of Trillium Health, a community health center in Rochester, NY. He has been active in HIV-related activities since the early 1980s, when the first cases of AIDS were reported. <br><br>Dr. Valenti chairs the Infectious Diseases Committee of the Medical Society of the State of New York and serves on the New York State Task Force to End the HIV Epidemic. He is a graduate of the Medical College of Wisconsin and co-founded the Community Health Network in Rochester in 1989, as a place to care for people living with HIV/AIDS. <br><br>In addition, Dr. Valenti is a Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry and completed his infectious diseases training there. He is a fellow of the Infectious Diseases Society of America. <br><br>In 2017, he published his memoir, “AIDS: A Matter of Urgency” that described the early years of the HIV pandemic.
